Stress Free Move In

While going to away to your dream college, many things pop into your mind. Your major, friends, and dorm life. One of the first thoughts that runs through everyone’s mind is your dorm room. For me, the dorm rooms that I was assigned Freshman and now Sophomore year were/are basically the size of a shoebox. At first it was difficult because A. I love clothes, B. I have too many, and C. I had to face the fact that I couldn’t bring them all even though I wanted to. Even though that was a hard reality to face, I learned some ways to make do with a small space.

Here are some tips and tricks to make the most out of your dorm room!

1.Bring stacking shelves for your desk: This item is easy to store when your moving in and out of the dorm while giving you optimal space so that way you can have a way to organize small items while making it look chic!

2.Bring plastic drawers: This will give you the extra room under your bed to store any clothes or necessities you need for the school year.

3.Rolling Cart: This one is by far my favorite back to school items because it doesn’t take up a lot of room in your dorm room and it ties the room in together. It’s also nice to store books and other things you need!

4.Extension Cords: Always bring 2-3 extension cords when you move in so that you have room to plug in your chargers and appliances in the room.

5.Small Fan: Depending on the dorm, some may or may not have air conditioning so the best way to not have humidity is to put one near your bed so that you’re not overheated.

6.When you start unloading from your car, bring a rolling dolly with you: I’ve seen so many people including myself that have to lug bags from one floor to another just to put it near the room and it is a hassle. By bringing a dolly, this makes it easy to get everything you need in half the time. I know this because my mom and I did this yesterday. We got one from Walmart for just 45 dollars and it was worth every penny.

7.Stacking Hangers: For any of you who have tons of clothes like I do, this is one of the best ways to organize your closet while having a room for your outfits.

8.Hanging Shoe Organizer: This item is great to make space in your closet while storing all the shoes that you need.

Hope this helps for anyone moving in! Stay tuned for more posts to come!
