1...2...3...Takeoff!

Today is the day I go out to NYC!  I just boarded the plane and I can’t wait to be there in two hours! I’ve been visiting New York since I was a little girl and it’s definitely a trip that I’ve been looking forward to for ever since I bought the plane tickets a couple weeks ago.

Last year, I previously focused on the fashion industry in New York. I was with the Miami University Fashion Program and we each had the opportunity to scope out different job aspects within merchandising, branding, and customer experience. We checked out companies such as Kohl’s, Levi’s, Ann Taylor, Coach, Macy’s, etc.  We even got a chance to go to Mood Fabrics and the garment district. My absolute favorite part was forming a pitch presentation for Avon’s rebranding called The New Avon.  It focused on a pop-up shop idea targeting college students along with a marketing plan.  I learned so much from the last time I went to New York and I honestly cannot wait for this year’s trip with the Journalism Program.

I hope from this trip is to have opportunities to network, to learn more about each company, and to use this experience and knowledge I’ve learned to apply for some future internships.  For the next couple of days before the program begins, I’ve planned out a couple hangout with friends and a few places I want to visit before the work begins. I hope during my visit is to check out the garment district again :), Korea town, the glossier store, swatch, and the met museum if there’s extra time tomorrow. Stay tuned!
