We started off the morning at ABC News. We had the opportunity to meet Greta Morris as our guest speaker who graduated from Miami in 2017 and is a production associate for ABC 20/20. The Show 20/20 focuses on true crime with two hour segments. Greta job entails compiling potential story segments, interviewing, editing scripts, and the overall presentation of the story. What I took away from her experience is the emphasis on compassion while interviewing. It’s about making a relationship with the interviewee by making an effort to get to know who they are before the actual interview.

Once we finished with our guest speaker, we were on our way to the View. As I was catching up with the rest of the group, I heard Lucy whispering “OH MYYYYY GOD.” I came over to ask her what’s going on and she pointed to THE Diane Sawyer in the flesh casually writing in her office. It was one of the most surreal moments and I’m pretty sure she saw and heard me fangirl across the hall. I wanted to take a picture so bad to capture the moment, but I didn’t want to invade her privacy in her work place. So y’all will just have to take my word for it and it’ll be a fond memory between my friend Lucy and I.

When we arrived at the View, I was placed in the front row along with Nick and Elly (Kay). The segment (Season 23 Episode 74) invited Judge Judy as a guest along with the hosts Abby Huntsman, Meghan McCain, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. Judge Judy talked about her support with the Bloomberg campaign along with the ad that’s been on air. They also opened up about their opinions and thoughts about the 2020 Presidential Election pool.

Next on the itinerary, we went to meet Brian Stelter who is the Host for Reliable Sources show on CNN and the chief media correspondent for CNN. He mentioned how he used twitter to elevate his platform and career to voice his opinions making him a well known American political commentator. His topics he talked about the most revolved around Trump’s era. I view tv as a house” because CNN is in a unique position where they’re “on a path to become a digital operation that happens to have a tv network” said Stelter. With the Trump era in motion, they have the opportunity to provide insight on those issues and concerns while keeping it a reliable source for the audience.

On our last visit for the day, we attended the talk shows. One half of the group went to the “Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert” while the other half of the group went to the “Daily Show with Trevor Noah. I was with the Trevor Noah group and it was such a great experience. The energy was so contagious and vibrant. I’m glad we had the opportunity to go as a class. Overall, the second full day in the NYC Media program was spectacular! My favorite part about today was learning more about being a voice in this world because it’s something that I want to pursue in the future as a news anchor and I hope I can be as talented as our guest speakers as well as the hosts for the shows we attended.
